NEW LIGHT ON ORGANIC MATERIALS & STRUCTURES

WELCOME to the web pages of the RCUK’s Basic Technology Project

“A Thousand Micro-emitters per Square Millimetre:New Light on Organic Materials and Structures”.

This exciting £2.7 million project, running from July 2004 to October 2008, aims to develop novel micro-sized solid-state light projectors, customised for applications in areas as diverse as:

  • Novel microscopy techniques
  • Microsystems
  • Lab-on-a-chip
  • Polymer science
  • Biosensing
It is a partnership between 8 research groups at 4 institutions and involves the contributions of 40 researchers and Ph.D students. The project is led by Professor M.D. Dawson of the University of Strathclyde and mentored by Prof. W. Sibbett of the University of St. Andrews.
